Join MPISCC on Monday, March 27th for the Beverly Laing Golf Tournament & Educational Program at the Los Coyotes Country Club!
Golfers can expect a top-notch tournament experience. Los Coyotes Country Club produces hundreds of golf-related events every year, and will be lending their expertise and resources to make this a truly special day. Skill competitions are planned for both before and during the tournament. There will be a golf clinic in the morning for those looking to fine tune their game. Beverage stations will be located throughout the course, and we’ll have a sponsored reception after the tournament.
This event will offer something for everyone whether it’s golf, education, networking, pampering or exposure through many sponsorship opportunities. Educational sessions are offered for non-golfers and will take place in the afternoon, followed by a VIP reception with sponsors. Session topics include:
Food and Beverage Trends as recognized by two hotel industry professionals: Steven Kuentz, Area Catering Sales Leader with Marriott, and Libby Zarrahy, CMP, Director of Marketing with Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport; and
Renderings to Reality: Bringing Event Concepts to Life presented by Kate Brack, Director of Floral & Event Design with EventWorks.
Special thanks to Los Coyotes Country Club for their hospitality, which has made it possible for us to offer this event to our members at a special rate.
About Beverly Laing
Beverly Laing was in the meeting and event industry for over 20 years. She began her career with the United States Golf Association managing international golf championships. It was during her volunteer service with MPI Southern California Chapter that Bev first brought up the idea of having a hospitality industry day of golf.
Beverly was born and raised in New Jersey before moving to California in 2005. She was married to Jim Laing; the mother of two children: Christina & Jim Laing Jr., and the grandmother of 5 adoring kids.
Through the years she managed programs for non-profits, sports & entertainment companies, as well as incentive trips for health insurance, technology and automotive companies. She was a CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) and a CTC (Certified Travel Counselor).
She was actively involved in the MPISCC. Having been awarded Planner of the Year in 2008 and Chapter Leader of the Year in 2010, She was installed President-Elect in 2013. When we lost Beverly to Melanoma in November 2014, she was in the middle of her term as chapter President.
MPISCC’s golf tournament is held in Bev’s honor each year. The funds that are raised through this event have been matched by generous donations from Beverly’s family and friends. All of the proceeds go exclusively towards scholarships to be used toward MPI membership, and to support current academically-enrolled students.
