During the Installation and Awards Gala in June, 2017-2018 Chapter President Joe Marcy highlighted three non-profit groups that MPISCC will be supporting for the year. The charities were selected by the incoming board of directors.
My Friend’s Place
My Friend’s Place is a thriving, professionally staffed drop-in resource center serving over 1,400 homeless youth ages 12-25 and their children each year. Their primary goal is to lower traditional barriers to service and provide homeless youth with the opportunity to improve their psychological, intellectual and physical capacity to reach their potential.
The center, which is 100% privately-funded, served 1,418 homeless young people last year — which is more than one-third of the homeless youth population in Los Angeles. They provided nearly 30,000 meals to homeless youth, over 540 linkages to on-site and off-site medical care for youth, intensive case management to 452 homeless young people and helped over 118 homeless youth successfully move into housing.
Every year, Operation Gratitude delivers 200,000+ care packages filled with food, entertainment, hygiene, and handmade items, plus personal letters of appreciation to veterans, first responders, new recruits, wounded heroes, their care-givers, and to individually-named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home.
Their mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of the military and first responder communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for civilians anywhere in
America to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation.
Since its founding in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than 1,600,000 care packages. The organization prides itself on the relationships they built
with businesses, organizations, and individuals like you. The MPI Foundation fuels the growth and advancement of MPI members by providing them professional development and career opportunities through grants and scholarships.
The MPI Foundation propels the meeting and event industry forward by funding research initiatives that support the strategic plan of MPI.
